Tantalising news here, as Hyperdub label boss Kode9 reveals that he’ll be previewing Burial’s new material during a special DJ set at Italy’s Club To Club festival this November.
Since the promised DJ-KiCKS compilation never appeared from the man otherwise known as Will Bevan, there’s only been occasional bursts of new material – including his remix of Commix that we previewed recently on the Round-Up Podcast – but if Kode9 says this is happening, then it’s happening. He’s as close to a boss as Burial’s got in that respect!
As Burial neither performs live or DJs, Kode9 is closest person to represent him in the club world, and indeed in 2007 he previewed Burial’s stunning Untrue LP in a similar manner.
UPDATE: Kode9 has posted on MySpace saying "There is no plans for a new burial album so you can all stfu" - so we're guessing he's just got some new stuff in the works.
The festival takes place in Turin from November 4th – 7th and features the likes of Modeselektor, Luke Abbott, Caribou, Jeff Mills, Shackleton, Joy Orbison and Four Tet.
