Mark Andréz is a 24 year old music producer from Copenhagen, who has worked alongside Daniel Kandi and Bjorn Akesson. His debut release on Matt Hardwick’s Discover sub-label Kill The Lights shows his undoubted production talents, with hints of well crafted melodies supported by a simple keyboard sequence. The full extent of the melodies is held back until the breakdown, when they are unleashed with full effect. This is melodic, dreamy trance that follows a tried and tested formula that works a treat.
The Kidd brothers Chris and Matt are on the remix and waste no time in stamping their mark on things, by toughening up the kick via a steelier edge. The original melodies seem more distant and filtered, but the main piano solo is still there. The techier percussion adds a certain menace but overall it seems a bit too lightweight in the melody department and doesn’t work as well as the original.
