A blistering debut that’s unlucky not to have got a release on the main Vandit label, hot young Dublin talent Orla Feeney has a great future ahead of her on the evidence of her scorching maiden voyage.
Comic Strip is the standout track, with a techno style kick and percussion soon joined by a slamming bassline that soon transforms into a dark, growling beast. There are lots of subtle little effects that are used to transition as the snarling electro melodies take over. The middle section sees a warm melody seep out until the harsh electro riff stabs back into action. This is a dark beast that’s done very well on Beatport and bound to go down a storm on the dancefloor.
The original mix of Two Faced has a similarly strong beat to the A side, but the bassline doesn’t have the same menace although similar little effects transition seamlessly from one section to the next. A simple piano sequence underpins the middle section, playing cat and mouse with the kick until from nowhere an electro riff is introduced but without the same dramatic effect as Comic Strip. The OMGF remix features a different riff alongside the piano, while the V2 remix has a great bassline plus the lead riff going off a bit more.
