After some pretty average releases of late, generally involving dodgy vocal pop/trance crossover, German producer/DJ Alex M.O.R.P.H. goes back to his roots with this melodic stormer. The original mix is the best of a strong release, featuring a nice crisp kick, steely percussion and a driving bassline, over which he layers some rich melodic pads and some darker elements. Gradually the catchy core melody takes over, showing that once again Alex can get it spot on, penning a beautiful euphoric track that provides a glistening sunshine vibe.
Vandit label mates Filo and Peri go down a harder path, bolstering the kick and injecting a roughed up riff which gives it a more raucous flavour, suitable to stadium events where big sounds can collide. They also twist the main melody, which seems to detract from its brilliance.
Fellow German and man of the moment Chapter XJ, aka Jan Jünemann, gets things back on track with a softer approach including a twisted bassline that lurches from side to side, and a softer kick. He weaves in some softer melodies and stretches out the main riff to give it a much deeper feel. The main break also gets extended but much of the energy from the original seems to have evaporated before he finally reintroduces the beats.
