Activa and Giuseppe Ottaviani - Long Way Back

This is the latest single to be plucked from Activa’s very tasty This World artist album which dropped late last year, and sees Rob partner up with former NuNrg maestro and Vandit’s Roman sensation Giuseppe Ottaviani, who also had an album released in 2009.

The Giuseppe Ottaviani mix of Long Way Back features a typically robust kick, which is soon joined by a menacing riff with just a hint of the old 303s, and a chunky bassline which growls into gear. The lead riff smacks of Ottaviani, a beautifully tugging classical euphoric string, while there are other melodic pads also swirling beneath the surface. Expect to hear this out and about on all good trancefloors.

The original album version isn’t that different, although there’s a steelier kick, a little more percussion, and there’s only the lead riff throughout, which leaves it lacking the depth of the A side.

The third track is the club edit of Don’t Leave Me, a classic Activa-sounding track, with a driving beat and crisp percussion, thumping bassline, with a few melodic flourishes and some vocal samples floating around. The vocal samples and a synth riff comes to the fore at the break, and he also injects a touch of acid to the bassline after the break to keep it interesting.
