Solace & Solitude - Sunset Sessions

This is the second release from German duo Solace & Solitude, a collaboration between DJ Pete Severano and producer Christian Anders, following their debut EP Rhode Island, with a belting remix from another emerging talent, Newcastle’s Gary Proud.
 
The original mix uses a sluggish beat, lots of soft harmonies and a tantalising euphoric hook which takes a while to get going. There’s also a subtle piano twinkling away in the background, but overall it just seems to be lacking something.
 
Enter Gary Proud who sharpens up the kick and adds some tough percs, while the bassline also has more drive, introduced after an early break is used to crank it up. The pads seem more bouncy while the atmospheric harmonies remain, getting plenty of airing with the subtle piano sequence in the extended midsection. Expect to hear this mix lurking in the middle of many a peak-time trance set.
