Young Argentine Agustin Servente is better as one half of production duo Heartbeat, alongside partner-in crime Mathias Chavez, with releases on the likes of Armada, Istmo and High Contrast. His latest melodic monster fits right at home on Matt Hardwick’s Kill The Lights imprint.
The original mix of Esturion, (which translates to 'Sturgeon'?!) is a rumbling, melodic monster, which takes a while to heat up, but when it shuffles into gear, watch out! A chunky bassline chugs into life and then an infectious, wobbly oboe style riff takes centre stage, with lots of lush melodies floating around as well.
Stockholm’s Jonas Hornblad begins with a blast, with a dirty rippling bass and solid kick giving it some grunt. He works in a new chilling piano sequence which transitions seamlessly to the oboe style riff. He brings back the kick and teases with the riff, dragging it all around which is a perfect tease.
The final remix comes from Northern Ireland’s Liam Melly, who has had a huge start to the year off the back of his collaboration with Bryan Kearney The Other Half. Things start off nice’n techy with a crisp kick and steely percussion before a driving bass surges into action. He’s reworked the riff into a nagging pulse that won’t let up, with the smooth melodies also introduced as well as the piano. The break’s got lots of twists and turns which keep things varied.
