Belgian producer Franz Hlusek’s Fast Distance project has been getting rave reviews, amongst the acclaim World # 1 Armin Van Buuren has nominated him as one to watch in 2010, joining the ranks of fellow Belgian trance stars such as M.I.K.E. / Push, Johan Gielen and Yves Deruyter.
The original mix of Nuit Blanche, which translates to 'White Night', is a poignant piece of uplifting trance, which builds beautifully, courtesy of the delicate layers of atmospheric strings and sweeping melodies. The break has an old school vibe to it with epic strings which are swept away by the stabbing lead synths which provide the re-injection of energy.
The remixes provide introductions to two new production aliases, the first coming from Tucandeo, Belfast based duo Daniel Cullen and Kevin Murphy, who randomly met at a dance festival back in 2006! Their tight remix here takes things in a deeper, more progressive direction with a darker, moodier bass, soft melodic stabs and atmospheric FX having the desired effect. The focus at the break is initially on a twinkling new piano sequence before the lead synths reappear.
Last up is Spanish newcomer Dimension, aka Borja Iglesias Touceda, a producer from Vigo who offers a techier rework, with steely percussion and more chilling melodies dropping the temperature while the filtered lead hook is twisted.
