Unfortunately released to coincide with Chemical Brother's summer single
Swoon - the similarities between Adam Freeland's new work and
Swoon are, for me, at least, immediate. Both tracks charged by driving summer melodies. This does not take anything away from
HTFYOL. Far from it. Behind bending synth licks which massage your lobes, intelligent percussion and building chords rise to the point of cresendo.
Once taken in by the balearic tone of Freeland's faked life - which suggests a summer idyll in itself - the track does not let go of you. The same can not be said for Etienne's remix which jolts its way through seven minutes of his trademark drum kicks and electro-driven punches. Sadly, this means the massaging synths are lost. Om Unit retrieves them with a atmospheric 2-step mix. While the euphoria seems more consistent, it does not rival the energy of the original.
