Everything To Me is the fourth release from London production duo Sly One and Jurrane, who are steadily building the momentum with this latest offering their finest outing to date. Probably the boys’ most uplifting work so far, it’s one of those tracks that brings a smile to your face every time you hear it, and goes off on a nice soundsystem in a club.
The original mix has the usual powerful kick and driving bassline you’d associate with a Sly One vs Jurrane production, with a nice uplifting melody accompanied by a 303 laced riff that remains in the background. A soft piano sequence works with the melodic pads at the first break, when the emotive vocal sample gets unleashed. It works a treat in tandem with the jangling riff which sparkles back into life. This sumptuous break could go on for ever and you’d never tire of it. A hi-hat brings the beats back into life and the groove returns.
The remix comes from another London-based producer Martin Jarvis, whose Acute alias has been released on Vaccine, NOYS and Infra. He drops the tempo and goes a bit techier, with a deep, twisted sci-fi style effect and lots of percussion before a bouncy kick rumbles into action. The melodies are much sparser, and have a detached, filtered feel, with lots of effects thrown into the blender. The vocal sample seems a bit out of place amongst all the percs and murky sounds.
