Adam Nickey - Shift

I don’t know what’s been going on over the past eighteen months – it’s like dance music has been injected with bassline biotics. So many of the new (and old) artists out there like Andy Deguid, Redd Square, P.A.F.F and Gabriel Battz, to name but a few seem to have lost lead trance synth syndrome and taken on something far more interesting – BASS!
Basslines have become the main focus of trance music in particular. Whether it be stabs, offbeat or just downright funky – the masses move all the more freely when a DJ bangs out those bassline beats. It’s catching on!
And as my introduction would profess, Adam Nickey’s Shift, does not break this still setting mould. A bouncy percussive opening, followed by a progressive stringed build up and fluid key changes, echoing guitar lead and peachy hi-hats take you to a simple and elegant breakdown. Don’t get me wrong amidst all this is a classic filtered trance lead that offers understated hands in the air moments along with a silky female vocal that provides the rush. There’s a clean build and a simple drop pulsing through that bopping bass – very nice!
To be honest it wouldn’t be a top play for me but it is accessible at late 130s BPM. It’s also very well produced, as you’d expect from an Anjuna release and with support already from Armin it’s worth a purchase.
