Evil Nine - They Live

Having not released much this year, Evil Nine come out of hiding with what promises to be one of the biggest singles of the year for Adam Freelands label, Marine Parade.

The track is released in support of the new album, both of which share the same sinister and bone shaking name... THEY LIVE

They Live, the album of the same name, looks set to yet again raise the bar for producers across the world if the first single is anything to go by.

The Rogerseventytwo Remix starts with no messing around, a flat four kick drum loop and some brilliant percussive synth stabs laying the foundations for the zombie onslaught ahead. The spooky horror style strings start and a fantastic, vocoded vocal will make you fall in love with all things that drink blood. The main body of the track is mental and beyond description - it really needs to be heard to be understood! Breaks, fills, interludes, builds and drops are all there for good measure making this one hell of a single. At just over four minutes the track ends far to early but ! suppose this is for radio play... BOOOO what a shame, it's over before it's started and it should never end.

The DJ Version has the kind of quality we have come to expect from Evil Nine. The drums and percussion are simple and live sounding, the track structure is fantastic and all the noises that you would imagine being in a old, low budget horror movie are skillfully and individually crafted and on show. Like a soundtrack to the film it pays homage to, this is sure to be a cult classic.

The Breakbot mix has a nice daft punk filtered feel to it and both of the Trever Loveys remixes are bass driven and fidgety with some clever LFO work to boot.

The single and all its remixes are outstanding and the artwork is also worth a mention.
