London DJ duo Sophie Oliver and Claudia Lovisa team up with Italian stallions Audiofly for this EP on the latter’s Supernature label, with a couple of worthy purchases for sure.
Generous For One takes a little while to get going, but when it does it’s a useful little tool of percussive bounciness – throbby bass stabbing, cool jazzy keys, light, brushy hi-hats and nifty bongo rhythms making for an enjoyable little groover. Won’t set the world of fire, but slip it over or under another track and watch the crowd wiggle away.
Move is a bit too deep and thin on ideas, but once our former New Talent featurees Romanian duo Livio & Roby get their hands on it, it’s a different matter altogether. It’s like Johnny D at his friskiest (surely influenced by his work this year) – an elephant trunk of a bassline delivering naughty things in the subs department, while junglistic wood-blocks, infectious hi-hat and shakers rhythms and beastly vocal snippets dance manically around this central motif. Yummy.
