Filo and Peri - Drops of Jupiter EP

I’d imagine Filo and Peri’s maxim is “less is best". Over the last few years they’ve averaged a track a year, which is fine because this one follows up last year’s massive Shine On perfectly. The original of Drops of Jupiter starts off with a nice solid bassline and surging synths that give it some verve. A soaring keyboard takes things even further until the mid section where the bassline gradually morphs into the raucous main riffs, which more than hint at Filo’s rock-loving past! The well matched bassline and guitar style riffs make this track really gel.
 
The Progressive Mix strips away a lot of the synths from the original, replacing them with deeper, housier influences, while the bass is also much weaker and the main riff seems filtered.
 
Light @ The End Of The Tunnel builds slowly but when it gets going, purrs along. The gravelly, psy-influenced bassline gives it some balls, with dramatic synths stabbing away. A crisp euphoric riff adds the uplifting touch to the break, which is soon swept away as the tough beats kick back in.
