John Digweed on 10 years of Bedrock
Bedrock's decision to host their 10th anniversary party at new venue matter, on a Friday night, rather than on a Thursday at their spiritual home of Heaven in Central London, took many fans as a surprise.
"Heaven is a magical place and somewhere that I, and many Bedrock fans, have had some amazing nights." says main man John Digweed on the decision. "We just felt that for the 10th Anniversary it would be good to do something really different and matter is run by the people behind fabric so you know the sound, lighting and production is going to pretty special. It’s an amazing venue and people have been blown away by it, so it's really exciting to do our party there." Digweed plays all night long in the main room at the party on October 10th, while Funk D'Void and Tom Middleton taking care of the second room.
"I loved the show with Rabbit in the Moon – it was a pretty special night." he says of his most memorable Bedrock party. As for other highlights: "Twilo in New York, Big Beach with Fatboy Slim in 2002, coming No.1 in the DJ Mag Top 100 poll...but most of all, it's been the great fan-base that have supported me all that time." As for lowlights, he cites the demise of vinyl and record shops as a personal sticking point. "I know technology moves on but having a vinyl release is so much more satisfying for a producer than a MP3. On the flip-side being able to access so much music now when you are on the road is amazing"
