More names for Sonar + Laurent Garnier plays to under-14s
Bass Clef, Beardyman, Brodinski, Buraka Som Sistema, Crystal Castles, Culoe de Song, Don Rimini, Heartbreak, La Roux and the amazing Outlines are just a taste of the newly-added names for this year’s Sonár Festival in Barcelona from 18
th – 20
th June.
They’ve also announced the inception of SonarKids on Sunday 21
st June at the By Day site (CCCB), which will see the likes of Laurent Garnier create tailored performances to get 0 – 14 year olds interested in electronic music, with workshops on beatboxing, skateboarding, illustration and more. How cute!
There will also be a SonarMàtica exhibition, which will show how musical instruments can be constructed using robotics and technology.
Finally, they’ve announced this year’s visual image / theme, which gets rolled out across all aspects of the festival – and it revolves around snow. Snow? In Barcelona? In June? Indeed! It’s all based around a 15-minute film that you can see on their website, which features “
some unusual majorettes wandering across a mountainous landscape, puzzled by the perplexing calls coming from a telephone booth.” A trailer is below.
