Do You

By: Freeland
Label: Marine Parade
Written by: BenGomori
Rating: 10/10

One of the best tracks off Freeland’s mixed second album, Do You is a cracking slice of hip-hop tempo electro sexiness, mixing crashing, commanding Led Zeppelin style drums (think Kashmir) with a pulsing, bold synth line, nifty fills and glitches and cool little vocal edits. Very cool.

Joker smashes it on the remix front, drafting in some jittery hats and shakers to drive the track along amidst his huge, guttural synth sounds, euphoric G-funk sounds and crackles of electricity and gated melodies. Big on the hooks as usual, and another absolute Purple killer.

Moonbootica’s electro house re-fit is not bad at all but pretty forgettable, High Ranking weld manic soca beats to metallic, womping bass, and the impressive Pantyraid provide another dubstep version. None are a patch on Joker’s re-rub though, which is absolutely essential.
